Mastic Beach Conservancy is committed to partnering with local community groups and municipalities to combat the effects of climate change and sea-level rise as well as realize the potential of the 6 ½ miles of publicly accessible waterfront parkland through a variety of initiatives including:
Blue & Green Trails
The creation and completion of blue and green nature trails in and along the Mastic Beach waterfront, encouraging mobility, recreation, and educational opportunities for our community.
Ecology & Arts Education
Community and youth education to nurture connection and understanding of the wetlands biodiversity, and increased access to parks and nature for local residents and the public at large.
The development of an ecology and arts community center at Violet Cove. Design and architecture that draw inspiration from the area wetlands, with a focus on conservation and education.
Kelp, oyster, and eelgrass seeding for the health of local waterways and community education is a top priority for our conservancy, and we’re laying then groundwork for a new aquafarm in Mastic Beach.
